Plame on You!

April 7, 2006 · 1 Comment

Scotter Libby says the President, through Dead-Eye Dick Cheney told him to leak the CIA information. Finally, the through is out. And you’d think that the Administration would at least own up to its role. (Insert Krabappel cackel). But bullshit like this makes me more angry. From today’s New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/07/washington/07cnd-leak.html

Mr. McClellan was asked today whether the president’s own words at the time (”If there’s a leak out of this administration, I want to know who it is”) and Mr. Libby’s recent assertion demonstrated inconsistency, at best.

Not at all, Mr. McClellan said. “Declassifying information and providing it to the public when it is in the public interest is one thing,” he said. “But leaking classified information that could compromise our national security is something that is very serious. And there is a distinction” — a distinction Democrats refuse to see, he said repeatedly.

What? If that makes any sense to you, I’d like you to tell me. Since when is leaking a covert CIA operative’s cover in the interest of public and national security? Usually, when you are a spy, you’re suppose to remain anonymous. To stop being under cover, usually means you failed you’re job. And spies usually preform very dangerous jobs that very few people can do, in order to protect their country. Whether its Bush, Cheney, or someone else – it doesn’t matter, someone in the Bush Administration is to blame and someone needs to be held accountable for this. At first, this was President Bush’s response. Since then we’ve seen less action and more waffling.

And now that it looks like the top dogs might be in trouble, the leak was for our own good – what?! I do not think that the American people are dumb enough to believe that. Much less the Bush Administration’s initial stance on the issue.

Honoring UW Professors

April 7, 2006 · 1 Comment

It’s no secret who my favorite professor was at UW. Infact, with the release of the 2006 Teaching awards I’m glad to see that Professor Scheweber is awarded. The UW provides a nice write up of all of the candidates. (Needless to say, I only read Scheweber’s and Walsh’s).

Read here for the full details.

As many a student of Schweber can attest, his treatment of Constitutional Law and Constitutional Theory is at a level of academic treatment few tend to venture. I’ve wandered that far and learned because of it, but its only because I had a decent guide. Here, Here!

Now, I just hope he gets what he really wants later this year — tenure.
